8:15-8:30
"Your pulling my leg."
What do we know about the idiom?
What do we not understand about the idiom?
Define and origins: pull one's leg. When you pull a person's leg you are spoofing or making fun of him, usually in a good-humored way. But that wasn't always the meaning of the expression. When the expression first turned up in Scotland about a hundred years ago, it was lacking the lighthearted touch it has today. In those days 'pull one's leg' meant to make of fool of him, often by outright cheating. The best theory of the origin of the phrase is that by tripping a person -- pulling his leg -- you can throw him into a state of confusion and make him look very foolish indeed." From "Morris Dictionary of Word and Phrase Origins" by William and Mary Morris (HarperCollinsPublishers).
Example: Hugo said told a story: last night and he saw his best friend Katy Pery. They went to get ice cream and when they were getting ice cream they met up with Usher. They all had a good time and Hugo won the lottery 5 million dollars on his way home. Wilmer said" Hugo you are pulling my leg."

Comparing and Contrasting
Scuba Diving
Scuba diving and snorkeling are water sports that many people enjoy. Both require a good mask and a pair of fins. Scuba divers receive hours of instruction and training. They learn to use oxygen tanks so they can explore deep under the water for long periods of time. Snorkelers, on the other hand, need almost no training. They see what's below the water by floating on the surface. Some snorkelers like to dive also., but they cannot stay under the water for long. They do not have oxygen tanks. They can stay under water only for as long as they can hold their breath.
Strategy: Understand the structure and look for key elements that organize the writing into compare and contrast:
similarly differently on the other hand also as well similar unlike too
